Overview

CNC Miller – Aerospace Components – Sheffield

Shift Patterns / Working Hours:

Days (38 hours): Monday - Thursday: 7:15am - 16:00pm & Fridays 7:15am - 12:15pm.

Nights (40 hours): Monday - Wednesday: 18:00pm - 6:00am & Thursdays 16:00pm - 20:00pm

Night working hours are paid at a premium of x1.5 (£23.37).

*day/nights are alternate each week*

Are you an experienced CNC Miller looking to work with cutting-edge aerospace materials in a precision-driven environment? We’re seeking a skilled machinist to join a dynamic production team, manufacturing high-spec components for the aerospace sector.

About the Role

As a CNC Miller, you’ll be responsible for machining small batch, high-precision components using a variety of CNC machines and controls. You’ll work with exotic materials such as titanium, Jethete, and nickel-based alloys, ensuring all parts meet strict aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC milling machines to tight tolerances on fixture-based work.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Work with various CNC controls (Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens).
  • Use manual measuring equipment (micrometers, internal/external gauges).
  • Handle aerospace components with care and precision.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Support machine maintenance and TPM checks.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets.
Person Specification
  • Proven experience in CNC milling across multiple machine types.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and 5S.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Experience with SPC charts and self-inspection.
  • Confidence in leading small teams or prioritising workloads.
  • Resilience under pressure and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, diligent, and committed to quality.
