CNC Mill Turn Setter / Operator – Leicester (Nights)

Salary: Competitive (including shift allowance, circa £54,000 depending on experience)

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 18:00–06:00 (permanent night shift)

Location: Leicester area

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

They’re now seeking an experienced CNC Mill Turn Setter / Operator to join their night shift machining team, helping deliver complex components to exacting aerospace standards.

The Role

As part of the production machining team, you’ll be responsible for setting and operating 3–5 axis CNC Mill Turn machines to manufacture precision‑engineered parts. Working from detailed engineering drawings and structured manufacturing plans, you’ll ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with industry specifications.

This role would suit a hands‑on CNC Machinist who enjoys working with tight tolerances and complex geometries in a high‑quality, fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and operate multi‑axis CNC Mill Turn machines to manufacture precision components.
  • Read, interpret, and adjust CNC programmes, including offsets and datums.
  • Conduct in‑process inspection using micrometres, Verniers, CMM, and shadow graphs.
  • Maintain workflow efficiency and liaise with colleagues across production and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks (TPM) to ensure machine reliability.
  • Adhere to all company and industry quality and documentation standards.
About You

You’ll be a time‑served or apprentice‑trained CNC Machinist with a proven background in aerospace, precision, or advanced manufacturing. You’ll have strong technical knowledge of CNC machining principles and take pride in producing first‑class work.

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ CNC machining experience within precision or regulated sectors.
  • Skilled in setting and operating 3–5 axis CNC Mill Turn machines.
  • Confident reading and editing CNC code.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, materials, and machining techniques.
  • Detail‑focused, quality‑driven, and proactive in maintaining standards.
  • Team‑oriented and reliable, able to work independently on night shifts.
