Job summary

A leading engineering organization in the UK is seeking a CNC Mechanical Fitter for a workshop-based role on the night shift. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 Electrical or Mechanical qualification and will be responsible for assembling components, using hand tools, and operating workshop equipment. Experience in rail or heavy engineering is desirable. This position offers a pay rate of £49.14 per hour and a collaborative, safety-focused work environment.

Overview

CNC Mechanical Fitter- Workshop-Based Role (NIGHT SHIFT)
Location: Lillie Bridge | Pay Rate: £49.14 per hour | Start: ASAP

We are working with a leading engineering organisation on behalf of a highly skilled workshop team, who are currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter / CNC operative to join their rolling stock upgrade projects. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role in a collaborative and safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble components and systems following detailed work instructions and assembly drawings
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, ruler) accurately
  • Apply torque using torque wrenches and follow witness marking procedures
  • Operate and maintain machinery and workshop equipment, including overhead cranes (desirable)
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing workshop team
Essential Requirements
  • Level 3 Electrical or Mechanical qualification (or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and assembly drawings
  • Experience using torque wrenches and measuring tools
Desirable Skills / Experience
  • Rail or heavy engineering experience
  • CNC experience, with programming knowledge considered a plus
  • Component assembly and system maintenance
  • Experience with overhead cranes and workshop equipment
