Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment firm is seeking a CNC Manual Machinist to join their Croydon workshop team. In this role, you will operate and set up various manual machinery for precision work across different sectors including rail and marine. Ideal candidates have a strong mechanical background and experience interpreting engineering drawings. This position offers a competitive salary of up to £41,000 plus a bonus, in addition to attractive benefits like a 9% pension and private health care.

About the Role

We’re hiring a CNC Manual Machinist to join our Croydon-based workshop team. This is a hands‑on role supporting the maintenance, repair and overhaul of mechanical equipment across rail, marine, power, and oil & gas sectors. As a CNC Manual Machinist, you’ll work on a wide variety of components – no production runs, just precision, problem‑solving and technical variety.


Key Responsibilities


  • Operating and setting up manual machinery including lathes, milling, drilling, boring and grinding equipment

  • Interpreting engineering drawings (metric and imperial) to guide machining and repairs

  • Designing and producing basic tooling to support workshop teams

  • Carrying out component balancing and assisting with job planning and scheduling
