Overview

CNC Machinists - Aerospace Manufacturing

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Day: £15.58 per hour // Nights: £23.37 per hour (£19.47/hr avg)

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time | Overtime Available

Our client is a well-established aerospace component manufacturer based in Sheffield, known for their commitment to quality, precision engineering, and innovation. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to support their manufacturing operations on the shop floor.

The Role

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for producing small-batch aerospace components to tight tolerances using a range of CNC machines and controls. You\'ll work in a high-tech environment with some of the most exotic materials in the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Setting and operating CNC Miller or CNC Turning machines to manufacture aerospace parts
  • Working to tight tolerances using Jethete, titanium, and nickel alloys
  • Interpreting engineering drawings with precision
  • Operating machines using Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain controls
  • Performing manual measurements using micrometres, gauges, and other tools
  • Using overhead cranes to safely move components and fixtures
  • Supporting machine maintenance and preventative action plans
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment
  • Collaborating with team members and participating in daily production reviews
About You
  • Proven experience in CNC Milling or CNC Turning in a precision engineering or aerospace environment
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Comfortable using a range of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain)
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and quality standards
  • Proficient in using manual inspection tools (micrometres, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team
  • Flexible and proactive with a strong work ethic
Desirable
  • Familiarity with SPC and self-inspection processes
  • Experience supporting or leading small teams
  • Confident communicator across all levels of a business
