Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client's busy team on their late shift.

Responsibilities
  • Set and operate Mazak 5-axis mill/turn machines, including Mazak Integrex E-1600V/10 and Mazak Integrex I-500 V/5; perform tooling setup and minor program edits (Mazatrol & ISO G-Code) and work independently to provided instructions while collaborating closely with colleagues to drive process improvements and maintain high-quality production.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings confidently.
  • Use a wide range of measuring equipment to verify components.
  • Handle castings and metals such as Inconel, Aluminium Bronze, Cast Iron, Duplex, and Stainless Steel.
  • Safely use hand and power tools, overhead cranes, slinging, and lifting (training provided).
  • Drive process improvements as part of a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organised work area in line with 5S principles.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and follow defined processes.
  • Manage time effectively to meet production deadlines.
  • Support cross-training and assist in training others when required.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years' CNC machining experience (milling and turning preferred).
  • Experience setting and operating Mazak CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read and edit CNC programs (G-Code and Mazatrol).
  • Strong knowledge of turning and milling techniques.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Advantageous
  • Apprentice trained (Engineering discipline).
  • Offline programming experience (Edgecam, Mastercam, or Mazatrol).
  • Experience in a Continuous Improvement/Lean environment (knowledge of the 8 wastes).
  • Safety and 5S awareness.
Rates and other info
  • £34.50 per hour (Ltd Co / Umbrella) or £25.76/h plus £3.11 holiday pay (can be accrued or advanced)
  • Late shift (14:30 - 22:30, Monday to Friday).
  • Accommodation provided for non-local contractors.
