Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a skilled CNC Machining Technician to join our machine shop team. You will help Manufacturing Engineering and Machinists produce high-quality components for our racing cars, build tooling, prepare work, and support efficient workflows.

You will read and interpret complex engineering drawings, set up multi-axis CNC tools, maintain records, and contribute to safety and quality on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC machine tools in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and practical skills for deburring, tapping, handling and packing.
• Proficient in creating and maintaining accurate records with Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage and restock tooling vending system, building and pre-setting spindle tooling assemblies.
• Prepare and operate multi-axis CNC machine tools, including changing and setting jigs, fixtures and tooling.
• Prepare job packs and raw materials, liaising with metal stores and machining team to maintain workflow.
• Maintain accurate inspection and tooling records, perform planned machine maintenance and uphold safety standards.
• Carry out hand finishing and packing of components, contributing to shop-floor safety.

Job Description

As a CNC Machining Technician, you will work within our machine shop team to help Manufacturing Engineering and our Machinists produce high-quality components for our racing cars.

You will build and pre-set tooling assemblies, prepare and operate machines, support component finishing and ensure materials and job packs are ready when needed. Your contribution will help us deliver projects and car upgrades efficiently, supporting performance at every race.

What You'll Do

• Manage and restock the tooling vending system, building and pre-setting spindle tooling assemblies in line with set-up sheets.
• Prepare and operate multi-axis CNC machine tools, including changing and setting jigs, fixtures and spindle tooling.
• Prepare job packs and raw materials, working with the metal stores and machining team to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Maintain accurate inspection and tooling records, complete planned machine maintenance activities and support high workplace standards.
• Carry out hand finishing, careful handling and packing of metallic and additively manufactured components, while contributing positively to shop-floor safety.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

• Experience operating CNC machine tools within a precision manufacturing environment.
• An understanding of small-batch component manufacture, ideally gained in motorsport, aerospace or a similar industry.
• The ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and practical skills for tasks such as deburring, tapping, component handling and packing.
• Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills, with the ability to create documents and maintain accurate records.
