Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a CNC Machining Technician to join our machine shop team, collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering and Machinists to produce high-quality components for our racing cars.

You will build and pre-set tooling, prepare and operate multi-axis CNC machines, assemble job packs, and maintain accurate tooling records, supporting efficient workflows and high standards across the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC machine tools within a precision manufacturing environment.
• An understanding of small-batch component manufacture, ideally gained in motorsport, aerospace or a similar industry.
• The ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and practical skills for tasks such as deburring, tapping, component handling and packing.
• Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills, with the ability to create documents and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Manage and restock the tooling vending system, building and pre-setting spindle tooling assemblies in line with set-up sheets.
• Prepare and operate multi-axis CNC machine tools, including changing and setting jigs, fixtures and spindle tooling.
• Prepare job packs and raw materials, working with the metal stores and machining team to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Maintain accurate inspection and tooling records, complete planned machine maintenance activities and support high workplace standards.
• Carry out hand finishing, careful handling and packing of metallic and additively manufactured components, while contributing positively to shop-floor safety.

Job description
