Job description

CNC Grinder Setter/Operator

Location: Cheltenham

Type: Full time Permanent Dayshift

Salary – Up to £45,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities – CNC Grinder Setter/operator

This role provides the business with the running of one or more CNC machines in their Cell. The CNC Grinder Setter will be responsible for crafting and maintaining precision parts and components, which are crucial in industries such as aerospace and defence.

• Responsible for setting and operating one or more CNC machines in the Cell.
• Responsible for daily machine health check list.
• Responsible for stamping own work.
• Report NCR’s (Non‑Conformance Reports).
• Mentor and support any new staff or apprentices working within the Machine Shop.
• Actively work with the Production Team Leader and Production Manager to establish key delivery dates/requirements.
• Communicate workshop issues to the Production Team Leader.

Qualifications & Requirements – CNC Grinder Setter Operator

• GCSE’s or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering qualification preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Basic CNC programming and machine competence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of machining Chrome (nice to have).
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations.
• Experience of working in aerospace sectors (AS 9100).
