Job summary

A manufacturing company is seeking a Cell Deburring / Manual Machining Operative in Denham. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine shop practices and deburring techniques. Responsibilities include operating various manual machines, ensuring quality control, and adhering to health and safety regulations. Strong adherence to technical drawings and the ability to maximize productivity are essential. Candidates with CNC experience will have an advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Cell Deburring / Manual Machining Operative

Department: Manufacturing

Location: Denham

Reports to: Shift Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE

What is the main purpose and results to be achieved in this role?

  • To undertake the setting and operating of various manual operated machines as well as deburring techniques to produce components to the required quality standards and in accordance with required work schedules.
KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

What needs to be done for effective delivery of the work?

  1. Deburring of components from machining cells using machinery as well as hand tools as required.
  2. Set and operate multiple manual machine types to manufacture components to technical specifications and quality standards.
  3. Quality check of work undertaken in accordance with laid down quality standards and procedures produced to the required quality standards prior to submitting for ‘first off’ clarification carried out by the Inspection department.
  4. To accurately interpret component drawings and relevant information so that Part Numbers, Drawing Issues, Working Tolerances and Surface Finishes can be accurately identified and applied.
  5. To be conversant with and employ appropriate techniques as specified on the job cards relevant to specific components such that work is undertaken according to requirements so that:
    • Processes are carried out in accordance with laid down SOP’s within the Department
    • Deburring components to required standard is completed within machine cycle
    • Required quality standards are achieved
    • All relevant Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, SSW’s arising from RA’s/COSHH and Material Safety Data Sheets
    • Work is completed in accordance with required work schedules
    • Productivity is maintained so that the effectiveness and efficiency of the department is at the highest level.
  6. To maximize output.
  7. To manage/assist in the successful implementation of on-going Lean Initiatives including:
    • 5S activities
    • Continuous Improvement programmes
  8. To handle materials, goods and components carefully and comply with safety regulations and handling/processing instructions so that:
    • Components are not damaged through mishandling or faulty processing
    • Accidents do not occur through negligence or mishandling.
  9. To monitor and maintain the fitness for purpose of tools and equipment and provide for their replacement and/or recalibration so that tools and equipment are always in good condition and suitable for purpose in order to avoid damage of goods, property and harm to oneself or other employees.
  10. To report any dangerous practices and other dangers such as faulty equipment to local supervision so that all operations are always safe.
  11. To undertake any other duties as required together with general housekeeping cleaning duties, such that the Machine Shop and associated areas are maintained in an efficient clean and safe condition, thus providing a safe and efficient working environment.
