Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a CNC 5-Axis Machinist for its Defence Manufacturing Facility in Bristol. The role focuses on setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce lift fan components with high quality, safety and precision.

You will join a skilled team in a fully on-site, five-day-per-week shift pattern and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have completed an engineering apprenticeship with an NVQ Level 3, proven CNC milling experience, and

Qualifications

• Completed an engineering apprenticeship with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines, loading programmes and managing machining cycles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing instructions.
• Strong mechanical/technical skills with understanding of CAD/CAM; experience with Fanuc controls is advantageous.
• Good maths, problem-solving and attention to detail; able to identify and resolve machining or quality issues.
• Awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements with commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines; prepare tooling, load programmes and adjust machining parameters to specifications.
• Prepare and secure components, fixtures and tools per instructions and quality standards.
• Inspect finished components using appropriate measuring equipment to ensure drawings are met.
• Maintain machinery, tooling and equipment through routine checks and preventative maintenance.
• Complete production, quality and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance machining efficiency and product quality.
