CMM Inspector - Goods In
Location: Denham
Salary: £38,000
A precision engineering company in Denham is seeking a skilled CMM Inspector to join their Goods In inspection team. The role involves carrying out verification of incoming mechanical components, working to strict quality standards and production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify components using a range of measurement tools and techniques.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure parts meet required standards.
- Maintain accurate inspection documentation and update records using SAP.
- Record non-conformances and ensure traceability of all inspected parts.
- Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and used in line with procedures.
- Work in accordance with internal SOPs, quality policies and health & safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives, including 5S activities.
- Handle components correctly to avoid damage and maintain high safety standards.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years' mechanical inspection experience.
- Confident using height gauges, bore micrometres, DTI's and similar precision tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- Background in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Working knowledge of basic H&S procedures.
Desirable Experience
- Aerospace sector background.
- Experience of conducting laser scanning inspections.
- Familiarity with AS9102 FAIR requirements.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of Geometrical Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T) to ASME Y14.5.
- Ability to document and report inspection results accurately.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Experience operating Mitutoyo CMMs using GEOPAK software.
Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience with Hexagon Absolute Arm or other portable CMM systems.

- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with good administrative discipline.
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Engineering apprenticeship or similar manufacturing/inspection training preferred.
