DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, within our Hybrid Cloud Services team.
We're using fresh ideas and leading‑edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.
The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.
We're looking for Cloud Infrastructure Engineers who thrive in modern cloud environments and enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges. You'll be hands‑on with AWS, Azure or GCP using infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native networking to build and maintain secure, scalable platforms. You'll design with resilience and security in mind, embedding controls to mitigate threats and ensure our services stay reliable and performant. Expect to work closely with other engineering teams, with the autonomy to shape solutions that meet real user needs.
You’ll be part of the team that keeps DWP's cloud services running smoothly, supporting live products, responding to incidents and continuously improving our infrastructure. We're big on automation and self‑service, so you'll help create repeatable solutions that accelerate development and reduce manual effort. If you enjoy monitoring cloud environments, solving problems before they escape and making a real impact through tech, this is the place to do it.
You’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is more convenient for you.
You’ll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
We offer competitive pay of up to £52,442.
You’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £12,000 per year.
A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi‑time. You’ll also get all the usual public holidays.
