Location: Remote (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Package: £50,000- £60,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role purpose

The Cloud Developer (AI Focus) is responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based applications and services, with a particular emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence solutions. Working closely, under Scrum methodology, with cross-functional teams including Architects, Product Owners, Testers, and other developers to deliver product increments in line with defined Sprint goals, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements (such as scalability, reliability, and security). The role involves problem-solving, the development of innovative solutions and Proof of Concepts, and the application of AI techniques to meet client needs.

Key responsibilities
  • Create and implement cloud-based applications and services, incorporating AI features where appropriate.
  • Ensure cloud and AI solutions meet performance, scalability and reliability requirements.
  • Work with domain and solution architects to design and refine cloud and AI solutions.
  • Implement and maintain strong security best practices for cloud and AI components.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud and AI technologies, including serverless, microservices and new AI frameworks.
  • Document cloud and AI solutions clearly, including integrations and data flows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across cloud and AI applications.
  • Conduct functional, performance and resilience testing of cloud and AI components.
  • Continuously enhance cloud and AI solutions based on metrics, feedback and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and internal guidelines.
Skills and experience
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, ideally with certifications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TypeScript or C#, with experience working with AI APIs and frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in developing AI-enabled technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional and globally dispersed teams.
  • Ability to quickly adopt and apply new cloud and AI technologies.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing secure, reliable and high-quality solutions.
