Job summary

Cognizant Consulting is seeking a Cloud Architect - Kubernetes & Containerization Specialist to design, deploy and manage secure, scalable containerized apps on AWS for the Law Enforcement Cloud Platform. You will work with the LECP team and stakeholders to ensure compliance and resilience of cloud services.

Hybrid role with 3 days in Croydon/London offices; active SC/NPPV3 clearance or ability to obtain is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in AWS cloud architecture, with a strong background in government or public sector projects.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AWS EKS), including cluster management, security policies and multi-tenant environments.
• Demonstrable experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or similar tools for infrastructure automation, configuration management and security by design, together with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins and GitLab.
• Active SC and NPPV3 clearance, or willingness/ability to obtain, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, scalable and secure containerized applications on AWS using Kubernetes (EKS), ECS and Fargate, adhering to Home Office standards.
• Ensure LECP solutions meet public sector security and compliance requirements (NCSC Cloud Security Principles, GDPR, ISO), implementing strict IAM policies, VPC configurations and secure secrets management.
• Develop and maintain robust, reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, and design automated CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab and AWS CodePipeline.
• Act as a subject matter expert on AWS container services, guiding teams on best practices for secure cloud operations while reporting into the LECP Head of Architecture.
• Set up proactive monitoring, logging and incident response for all containerized applications using CloudWatch, ELK Stack and Prometheus to meet SLA requirements.

About the role

As a Cloud Architect - Kubernetes & Containerization Specialist, you will make an impact by architecting, deploying and managing secure, scalable containerized applications on AWS for the Law Enforcement Cloud Platform (LECP), directly enhancing the security, efficiency and resilience of cloud services supporting national security operations. You will be a valued member of the Government Cloud Services / Law Enforcement Cloud Platform (LECP) team and work collaboratively with the LECP Head of Architecture, a dedicated EKS team and cross-functional government stakeholders, and clients.

In this role, you will

• Design and implement highly available, scalable and secure containerized applications on AWS using Kubernetes (EKS), ECS and Fargate, adhering to Home Office standards

What you must have to be considered

• 5+ years in AWS cloud architecture, with a strong background in government or public sector projects
• Advanced expertise in core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, Route 53), with an emphasis on secure VPC design, subnetting and strict IAM policy management
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AWS EKS), including cluster management, security policies and multi-tenant environments, plus proficiency deploying containerized applications on ECS and Fargate
• Demonstrable experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or similar tools for infrastructure automation, configuration management and security by design, together with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins and GitLab
• Active SC and NPPV3 clearance, or the willingness and ability to obtain SC and NPPV3 clearance, is essential

These will help you succeed

• Familiarity with public sector compliance frameworks and controls, including GDPR, ISO27001 and NCSC guidelines for secure cloud deployments
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions suitable for high-security environments, including CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana and centralized logging with ELK
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on creating resilient, secure and scalable solutions
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts effectively to government stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
• A proactive, adaptable team player who thrives in regulated environments and stays current on emerging AWS technologies, compliance changes and security best practices
