Job summary

ACM Global Laboratories in York, UK, is seeking a Clinical Trials Specimen Management Technician to join the Specimen Processing department. The role is onsite with 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday or alternative shift.

You will perform daily CTSM lab operations, handle specimens at various temperatures, manage documentation, ensure QA and data entry accuracy, and support archiving and shipment preparation while complying with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform all processes in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform receipt, QC checks and onward processing for Clinical Trials specimens.
• Perform accurate data entry into laboratory information management systems.
• Prepare samples for onward shipment.
• Work with samples under varying temperature conditions including ultra-cold (-80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C).
• Handle deliveries of packages including lifting and carrying of boxes filled with dry ice.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working environment including frozen storage unit maintenance and waste ice receptacles.
• Utilize study documentation to aid in problem solving and elevate to senior staff as required.
• Manage specimen related study documentation including preparation for archiving.
• Guarantee client satisfaction by providing exceptional service to internal customers.
• Adapt to changing priorities with guidance from senior team members.
• Perform specimen receipt/accessioning/shipping activities depending on your main area of work (Routine, storage or batched shipping).
• Utilize Environmental monitoring software to monitor all specimen storage units to ensure integrity of all specimens.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

The Clinical Trials Specimen Management Technician I performs the daily operations of specified areas within the Clinical Trials Specimen Management (CTSM) Laboratory. They perform all daily functions in accordance with company policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform all processes in accordance with SOP’s and appropriate regulatory guidelines
• Perform receipt, QC checks and onward processing for Clinical Trials specimens
• Perform accurate data entry into various laboratory information management systems
• Prepare samples for onward shipment
• Work with samples under varying temperature conditions including ultra-cold (-80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C)

• Perform housekeeping as required to maintain a clean and tidy working environment including frozen storage unit maintenance and emptying waste ice receptacles
• Utilize study documentation to aid in problem solving and elevate to senior staff as required
• Manage specimen related study documentation including preparation for archiving
• Guarantee client satisfaction by providing exceptional service to internal customers
• Adapt to changing priorities with guidance from senior team members
• Perform specimen receipt/accessioning/shipping activities depending on your main area of work (Routine, storage or batched shipping) including but not limited to

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.
