This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated clinician to undertake a a new role as a Band 7 Clinical Team Manager within the Crisis Assessment Unit and Section 136 service at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. At a time when the service is undergoing review and development, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape and influence future service delivery, contributing to improved outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health crisis.
Crisis Assessment Unit (CAU), which is currently operating as a 6-bedded acute female ward, ensuring safe, effective, and integrated care across the crisis pathway. The s136 suite, health based place of safety is attached to CAU and is a 2 bedded suite. As Clinical Team Manager, you will provide clear, visible leadership to a multidisciplinary team of nurses and health support workers, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, responsive, and service user-focused service.
Working closely with the Clinical Operations Manager and wider senior leadership team, you will lead on clinical governance, service improvement, and the day-to-day operational management of the team within an evolving and demanding environment. The role requires strong leadership, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to effectively manage complex and high-risk situations, while maintaining a clear focus on quality, safety, and patient experience.
A key component of the role will be to work collaboratively alongside the Clinical Team Manager for the Street Triage Service, ensuring safe, effective, and integrated care across the crisis pathway. You will support cross-cover arrangements between services and play an active role within the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to assessment, care planning, and decision-making across the whole pathway.
You will establish and maintain strong working relationships with a range of internal and external partners, including police, ambulance services, community teams, and the CRISS service, to ensure seamless care pathways and continuity of care across services.

Lead and manage the day-to-day operational functioning of the Crisis Assessment Unit and Section 136 service, including coordinating a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. Provide clinical and managerial leadership, oversee staff supervision and performance, and ensure compliance with Trust policies and standards.
Work collaboratively with internal and external partners, including police, acute services, and community teams, to ensure effective communication, safe decision-making, and seamless care pathways. Contribute to service review, development, and quality improvement initiatives, while supporting staff in managing complex and high-risk situations to improve outcomes and service user experience.

Fixed Term Contracts for existing NHS Employees – temporary contracts for employees of LYPFT, or colleagues joining from another NHS Trust, will be offered on a secondment basis wherever possible. In the event this is not possible, an FTC would be issued and this would require a break in service of two weeks.
The purpose of a temporary is role could be for maternity cover, temporary funding or some other reason. At the end of which the need for the temporary work will cease. Temporary roles can stop, be extended and/or made permanent at any point during the period of work. Should the role become permanent then the post-holder will be informed of the process to be followed to convert the position to a permanent one.
