Job summary

North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a senior clinical leader for the CAMHS Enfield service. You will oversee clinical care, lead on service development, and maintain a clinical caseload providing expert therapeutic intervention.

You will supervise staff, chair meetings, and develop interagency partnerships to improve integrated care pathways and local service delivery.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate doctoral level training in psychology as accredited by the BPS.

Job summary

This key role is to work as part of the triumvirate leadership for the team. Working alongside the Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists the post holder provides clinical leadership with the Operational Team Manager providing the team management. This role is to lead on the clinical service and development of the team within the service. The role includes having a clinical caseload providing expert therapeutic intervention. This role is supported by job planning along with support from leads within Enfield CAMHS. The post holder has overall responsibility for the delivery of clinical care and for implementing and reviewing policies, Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to that ensure the provision of high-quality services within frameworks agreed by the Trust; Commissioners; and Key Stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the consultant psychiatrists:

• Take overall responsibility for service delivery, including the duty and crisis line; and
• Provide senior clinical leadership / consultation to colleagues.

To support and supervise staff, chair team meetings and respond to queries. To advocate for the service be instrumental in leading

To develop robust interagency relationships with, Children, Young People and Families and key stakeholders, supporting the development of integrated care pathways and locality working

Responsible for overseeing quality assurance for the team.

Leading on the planning and organisation of clinical activities as and when required.

Through supervision and appraisal will identify their own professional development needs.

Responsible for the provision of safeguarding leads within the team

Oversee the transition of young people to adult services

Job responsibilities

• Hold a clinical caseload, providing specialist assessment and therapeutic intervention
• Support junior colleagues with their caseload management to work effectively and efficiently and creating capacity to take on new cases.
• Overseeing day to day clinical leadership of the Team in conjunction with other Enfield CAMHS teams, coordinating the clinic-based service, along with outreach where required
• Ensuring high standards of record/case note recording in line with an integrated clinical care notes policy.
• To be responsible for the co-ordination of the team in providing a safe, effective and therapeutic clinical service ensuring the delivery of high-quality community mental health care packages.
• To work in partnership with key agencies to ensure easy access for children and families into CAMHS
• Ad-hoc clinical support for staff and local clinical induction for new starters
• To actively support individual continuous professional development of staff in partnership with appropriate professional leads, which may include delivering clinical training as and when required

Qualifications and Registration

Essential

• Post-graduate doctoral level training in psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, as accredited by the BPS, Systemic Family
• Evidence of post registration continuing professional development (CPD)
• Clinical supervision training
• PHD / doctorate qualification related to clinical practice
• Trained and accredited in more than one therapeutic modality

Skills and Abilities

Essential

• Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision of other staff.
• Good working, functioning as part of multi-disciplinary team and liaison with external agencies i.e. primary care, education, social and health care.
• Ability to identify provide and promote appropriate means of support to children, young people, families and carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours
• Clinical supervision and appraisal skills
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• At least 2 years post qualification experience at Band 8a or higher in a children / young person mental health setting
• Experience of providing psychological therapies to children, young people and their families with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health problems in the community.
• Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' therapeutic care and treatment, both as a clinician and also within the context of a multidisciplinary team/care plan
• Understanding of evidence-based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice
• Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
