Job description
Overview

Working under supervision, you will be required to work flexibly within the team to support clinical service delivery within the department. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team, providing high quality, compassionate, patient‑focused care within the Main Out Patient Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

It would be desirable if you possessed an NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care. Previous experience in an outpatient or clinical setting is an advantage. You must possess excellent communication, IT and customer care skills and demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as part of the wider team.

Hospital Locations & Services

We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI offer a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant‑led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. Additionally, local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

If the post is subject to Disclosure & Barring Service checking, a charge of £49.50 for Enhanced and £21.50 for Standard clearance and an additional £4.90 administration fee will be made to the successful candidate(s). This applies only to roles Band 6 and above and to Medical & Dental posts. Anyone newly appointed to the trust under the Agenda For Change contract will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory six‑month probationary period to become familiar with the role and working environment.
