Overview

Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant required for Danesbury Neurological Centre. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team on the Neurological Rehabilitation unit in Welwyn. You will be working alongside our trained nursing and therapy staff assisting them in the day to day care and management of our patients to ensure they receive safe, high quality nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake personal care duties, e.g. bathing, toileting, dressing, support with meals and assisting patients with their daily needs.
  • Ensure the patient bed space is clean, tidy, accessible and that the patient has what they need within easy reach.
  • Practice safe standards of care in accordance with Trust guidelines and policies; maintain concentration with occasional interruptions.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to updating patient records (e.g. fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, age).
  • Develop the skills to actively facilitate self-care and independence with patients.
  • Ensure equipment and stores are well maintained and take action if equipment is faulty.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
Progression to Band 3
  • Perform patient observations including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, respirations, blood glucose monitoring and GCS.
  • Collect urine samples and perform wound swaps, wound observations and simple wound dressings.
  • Removal of peripheral cannula and urinalysis.

Please note the following working pattern: rotational shifts between long day (11.5 hour) and night duty shifts, covering Sunday to Saturday, including weekends and bank holidays.
