Job summary

A large university teaching hospital in the UK is looking for Clinical Support Workers to join their dynamic team. Successful applicants will assist with diagnostic testing, provide essential nursing care, and perform various clinical procedures. The role requires NVQ level 3 in care or working towards it, with opportunities for full-time and part-time hours available. Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for competent individuals to join a large team of Clinical Support workers in the busy environment of the AMU. The unit is responsible for the safe admission, assessment of patients, and ensuring excellent care is provided at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Assist staff nurses with diagnostic testing such as blood tests, cannula insertion, and ECGs.
  • Provide basic nursing care as directed by care plans, including personal hygiene, toileting, dressing/undressing, and ensuring patients’ nutritional status is maintained.
  • Perform a range of clinical tasks or procedures including ECG acquisition, peripheral IV access, venepuncture, basic and advanced casting, pressure area risk assessment, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, capillary blood glucose monitoring, stoma care, and transfer of patients to other areas.
  • Accurately document all aspects of care provided.
  • Perform minor injury treatments such as wound assessment and closure (excluding suturing).
  • Demonstrate duties to new starters.
  • Participate in and promote the audit process within the department.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Hard working, good communication skills, excellent teamwork.
  • Previous hospital care experience and leadership skills.
  • NVQ level 3 in care, or working towards this qualification.
  • Evidence in using extended clinical skills or working towards extended clinical skills.
Work Hours

Full‑time and part‑time hours available on a rotational shift pattern, predominantly days, with a mixture of long days, early, late and night shifts. Staff will work opposite other band 3 staff to ensure maximum coverage of the assessment unit.
