Decisions about donor files and the suitability of donated tissue are among the most important that are made here at NHS Blood & Transplant. Because those calls save lives. And sometimes there's a ticking clock. Getting the decisions right takes a clinical expert with specialist knowledge, great empathy, and superb communication skills. That's where you come in. As our recognised expert for the clinical sign‑off of live and deceased donor files, you'll make vital decisions about the suitability of donated tissue. You will be responsible and recognised as the clinical expert for the clinical sign off of live and deceased donor files. Your duties will include:

  • Clinically supporting the Autologous and Allogeneic serum eye drops programme.
  • Clinically supporting the live surgical bone programme as required with regards to authorising files for clinical suitability.
  • Responsibility for the timely and effective management of authorising deceased donor files which includes time restricted ocular files.
  • Accountability for clinical decision making regarding the suitability of donated tissue for transplantation and research.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
