Job summary

A community healthcare provider is seeking a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Community Paediatric Therapies Service. Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Community Paediatric Therapies Service. The post holder will provide specialist Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to children aged 0‑19 years in a wide range of settings within the community.

Main duties

To provide assessment and interventions to children/young people aged 0‑19 years with a variety of conditions, including complex needs who are resident within the South Tees region. The specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention will take place in the most appropriate community location to best meet the needs of the individual child/young person and their family. Access to independent travel is essential. Clinical supervision and line management duties of other staff members within the team is an important duty of this role. Appropriate additional duties will be delegated to the successful candidate by the Service Lead including representation of the wider Paediatric Therapies Service in external/Trust wide meetings. Leading on service improvement and development projects. Significant postgraduate experience working within Paediatric Physiotherapy and enthusiasm for working with a wide range of children/young people up to the age of 19 is essential.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills (Essential)
  • Evidence of advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of paediatric patients with a variety of conditions and complex needs.
  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and promote collaborative multidisciplinary/agency working.
  • Highly developed communication and report writing skills, in verbal and written format.
  • Evidence of leadership skills including delegation, effective time management, deputisation for more senior staff, staff management/supervision.
  • Demonstrates a highly specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to paediatric physiotherapy.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritise and co‑ordinate own workload and that of others.
Desirable
  • Good understanding of the SEND agenda.
  • Evidence of service development, clinical audit and/or research.
Qualifications and Training (Essential)
  • Hold a Diploma or degree awarded by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
  • Registered as fit to practice by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of paediatric post‑graduate clinical training and development.
Desirable
  • Hold or be working towards an MSc or relevant post‑graduate qualification.
  • Member of the APCP.
Experience (Essential)
  • Significant post‑graduate experience of working within paediatric physiotherapy in a variety of NHS clinical settings.
  • Significant experience of working with children/young people with a variety of conditions including complex neurological, orthopaedic, developmental and respiratory conditions.
  • Experience of clinical education and the supervision of physiotherapy students on clinical placement.
  • Evidence of effective people management skills.
Desirable
  • Experience of training other healthcare professionals.
