Job description
Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Neurosciences (Neurotrauma)

We're offering a unique opportunity for a Band 8a OT (or an experienced Band 7) to support the progressive, innovative, multi-disciplinary neurosciences service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This role would support the Neuro trauma pathways for traumatic brain and spinal injury from initial admission in ICU through to their rehabilitation in our level 2 neuro rehab unit. It will enable you to support the patient across their journey from surgery to rehabilitation.

We are looking for someone who has or is looking to develop advanced clinical expertise, leadership qualities, quality improvement and innovative thinking to a role that requires collaboration and patient centred care.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust provides Regional Major trauma, neurosurgical and neuro rehabilitation level 2 services across its sites at St Marys Hospital Paddington and Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith and Fulham.

You will join a progressive, forward-thinking multi-disciplinary Trauma/neurosurgical and rehabilitation service with an excellent care delivery record. We are part of the NWL Major Trauma Network and the Integrated Stroke Delivery Network and have robust links with our North West London (NWL) Community Provider Collaborative that provide community -neuro rehab for our sector. We are involved with the pan London Major Trauma and neuro Rehab groups. We support rotational posts into the community services.

Main duties of the job
  • The role will focus on supporting the development and delivery of innovative service improvement projects focussed on improving quality of care and patient outcomes.
  • You will support the in the development of the service together with the Multi-disciplinary quality and safety groups which includes our Consultants and Lead nurses.
  • You will be an advanced specialist neuro rehab fields fulfilling a specialist clinical role in the major trauma and neurosurgical services based at SMH and the neuro rehab team at CXH.
  • The post holder will provide aspirational clinical support to other therapists within the team and will ensure delivery of a service that is informed by best evidence and expert knowledge.
  • You will lead on both discipline specific, inter-professional and cross boundary service development projects that are of a standard that can be presented at peer reviewed conferences.
  • The post holder will encourage involvement in shaping quality improvement and research ideas with involvement in therapy research projects relevant to their area of expertise.

Education/ Qualifications
  • Diploma/ Degree in relevant AHP profession
  • Health and Care professions Council registration
  • Evidence of experience /post graduate training and education to Masters level or equivalent and CPD relevant to speciality area

  • Evidence of continuous and current professional academic development relevant to clinical field

Experience
