Job description
Overview

Join our forward‑thinking Cardio‑Respiratory and Surgery (CRS) Therapy Team, which places patient care and professional development at the forefront. As a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist you will lead a clinical caseload, delivering advanced specialist assessments and interventions to patients with complex, multi‑pathological conditions such as respiratory, cardiac, palliative, neurology, bariatric, dementia, frailty, and post‑surgical.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced specialist assessments and formulate individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide clinical support and supervision to team members, students, therapy assistants, and Band 5/6 colleagues.
  • Lead on team meetings, in‑service and quality improvement projects, and contribute to service development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engaging in regular discussions with patients, carers, JPUH colleagues, and community partners.
  • Maintain professional appraisal documentation, attend well‑being meetings, and contribute to evidence‑based practice projects, audits, and outcome measurements.
  • Assist in training and supervising students in an educator role.
Non‑Clinical Duties
  • Provide specialist advice and teaching to occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and therapy assistant colleagues.
  • Co‑ordinate workload distribution and team scheduling on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Participate in policy development and implement clinical/practical changes when appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to Trust guidelines and the integrated care model.
Core Hours & Shift Pattern

Core hours: 08:00‑16:00. Staff work will be rostered on a seven‑day service/shift pattern.
