The closing date is 06 January 2026.
Are you a skilled clinical Midwife with a passion for teaching? Are you looking for a new opportunity to use your skills in a different way?
Clinical Skills Midwives work within the Education team alongside our Practice Development Midwives to complement the practice development agenda. We are looking for a midwife with:
The Clinical Skills Midwife will support all clinical staff with educations and practical training needs, including newly qualified midwives, experienced midwives returning from leave or rotating into a new area, and Maternity Assistants/Maternity Support Workers learning new skills and achieving competencies.
Please ensure you have the permission of your current line manager before applying for a secondment opportunity.
You will have established competence in clinical core skills, including cannulation, perineal repair, induction of labour methods, theatre cases and others.
You will have a strong desire to demonstrate, teach and supervise to build confidence and competence. You will value evidence and audit to inform training design and delivery.
You will have creative ideas and initiative for clinical scenario teaching, providing hands on training to preceptorship midwives, return to practice midwives and a variety of practice development across the MDT.
You will be agile and visible – creating work based learning by providing opportunities for planned teaching, pop-up learning, opportunistic drills and other continuous improvement through learning.
You will be responsive – as evidence drives practice and identifies themes, and you will work with the Practice Development Team to deliver rapid action training and targeted support.
Targeted support and service need will require some flexibility – the post holder may need to work alongside colleagues and also move across sites and locations to support training and education. You may need to participate in clinical activity as required.
