Main duties of the job

We have an exciting Clinical Lead opportunity available across Leeds, based at our site in Kirkgate. You will be promoting the effective use of evidence-based treatment approaches to provide an opportunity for sustained recovery from dependent and problematic substance misuse.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to provide clinical leadership to the hub within a multi-disciplinary team and as part of a wider service, working alongside hub managers and the Clinical Director to ensure the safe and effective delivery of drug and alcohol interventions for clients accessing treatment at the hub.You will enable supervision and support of staff in their clinical setting. Support with staff one to ones and appraisals, return to work and support new clinicians where required. Effective use of evidence-based treatment approaches to provide an opportunity for sustained recovery from dependent and problematic substance misuse. You will ensure that you have a whole person holistic focus, with an understanding that services need to include all areas of wellbeing, not just substance use, to achieve the best possible outcomes for every person.

Job responsibilities
  • Work with Operational and Clinical colleagues to ensure good integrated governance, effectiveness and best practice within the service.
  • Alongside other clinical site leads, and the clinical services director, support cross cover across sites to ensure clinical care is maintained during periods of illness or other staff shortages.
  • Facilitate clinical pathways between relevant local hospitals, Primary Care and Specialist Services for referral and treatment.
  • Support on clinical recruitment, selection, induction, training, appraisal, disciplinary and grievance procedures, as appropriate.
  • Prescribe medication for people requiring prescribed interventions, in line with Waythrough medicine management policies and governance procedures.
  • Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a person-centred manner
  • Promote and ensure clinical consistency throughout the services, according to local and national clinical processes.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • A Qualified General or Psychiatric Nurse with current NMC registration
  • A Registered Nurse with an independent prescribing qualification
  • A Qualified Pharmacist registered with GPhC as an independent prescriber
  • A qualified Doctor registered with GMC E
Experience
  • Experience of entering complex information onto an electronic / clinical data base.
  • Experience at a senior level of working with people who use substances.
  • Previous experience of service review and development.
