Clinical Services, Education and Training Pharmacist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced GPhC registered pharmacist with a broad clinical knowledge and an interest in clinical services and education and training of future pharmacists to join the team.

We are one of the largest training providers of foundation trainee pharmacists, with a training cohort of 18 trainees, 30 undergraduate placements and up to 36 FS1 foundation pharmacists.

You will support the Lead Pharmacist, Clinical Services in management, maintenance and continuous quality improvement of high quality patient-focused ward and clinical services to patients of the Trust.

You will work in liaison with all our different specialist pharmacy teams and operational service leads as you co-ordinate and support clinical service provision across one of the sites, and line manage resident pharmacists on rotation.

We are committed to developing our staff and you will work closely with both the Foundation Pharmacist Education and Clinical Services lead pharmacists to ensure our trainees and foundation pharmacists are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to deliver first class clinical pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job
  • You will provide a high quality, patient focused clinical pharmacy service to patients by ensuring the safe, clinically efficient and cost-effective use of drugs.
  • Ensure that all medicines management processes are followed by staff and support the development of consistent medicines management practices across the trust.
  • Deliver education and training to the multidisciplinary team including other pharmacy staff (such as trainee pharmacists) and other healthcare professionals.
  • Role model, inspire and motivate newly qualified pharmacists to adhere to clinical procedures and standards.
  • Participate in late duties, on-calls, weekend and bank holiday rotas as determined by the needs of the Pharmacy Department.

Person Specification
Education
  • Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent;
  • Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC
  • Post-graduate certificate in general pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification
  • Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
  • Independent prescribing
Experience
  • This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, ward services and dispensing)
  • Experience in delivering training and education
  • Experience in management of others
  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients
  • Planning and developing services
  • Previous experience of electronic prescribing systems (Cerner and CMM)
  • Previous clinical experience of chemotherapy management
