Job description

This exciting role is to act as a principal clinical scientist in a joint clinical‑academic department in a large London teaching hospital. The role covers the whole breadth of nuclear medicine physics practice, with a focus on leading the physics aspects of the Molecular Radiotherapy (MRT) service and providing high‑standard scientific and technical support to clinical and research activities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the physics aspects of the MRT service and manage the day‑to‑day operation of the MRT nuclear medicine physics team.
  • Take responsibility for the molecular radiotherapy services provided by the medical physics team, including pediatric and adult in‑patient and out‑patient programmes.
  • Develop and specify new and existing clinical and research protocols, and introduce and evaluate new procedures and equipment.
  • Provide duty physicist cover to the Clinical Nuclear Medicine Service.
  • Participate in audit activities, policy implementation, governance and quality standards of the department.
  • Contribute to research, development and teaching programmes, including research projects with internal and external institutions.
  • Deliver teaching and lecturing, and supervise local and visiting staff to support their continuing education and competence development.
  • Act as a Medical Physics Expert for the department and any external departments supported by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine.
