Job summary

System C is seeking an experienced Clinical Safety Officer to join the Clinical Safety Team. The role blends clinical expertise with digital innovation to ensure safe development and maintenance of healthcare technology across settings.

You will work with clinicians, product teams and technical colleagues, conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and safety cases while upholding safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' clinical experience within NHS or private healthcare settings.
• Understanding of DCB0129 and DCB0160 Clinical Safety Standards and SaMD regulatory requirements.
• Completion of, or willingness to undertake, an accredited Clinical Safety Officer course.
• Experience within NHS informatics or digital healthcare environments.
• Familiarity with healthcare technology systems and clinical workflows.
• Understanding of project management principles and system development lifecycles.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions.
• Commitment to improving patient safety through technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage clinical risk assessments for assigned products.
• Support the investigation, prioritisation and resolution of clinical safety incidents.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Act as the clinical safety lead for designated projects.
• Maintain and update Clinical Safety Files and related documentation.
• Ensure products and services comply with applicable clinical safety standards and regulations.
• Support the clinical safety and regulatory activities associated with SaMD including CEPs, CERs and post-market surveillance.
• Collaborate with clinicians, product teams and technical colleagues to support safe system development.
• Promote awareness of clinical safety best practice across the organisation.
• Support audits, safety reporting and governance activities.
• Participate in the on-call rota, providing clinical safety advice when required.
• Contribute to patient safety assessments, hazard logs and safety cases.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, professionally registered healthcare professional to join System C's Clinical Safety Team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical expertise with digital innovation, helping ensure that healthcare technology is developed, implemented and maintained safely for patients and healthcare professionals.

Working alongside experienced clinical safety specialists, you will undertake a structured programme of training and mentoring to develop your expertise as a Clinical Safety Officer. You will act as a vital link between clinical practice, product development and patient safety, supporting the safe design and delivery of healthcare solutions used across health and care settings.

What we're looking for

• Registered healthcare professional with a minimum of five years' clinical experience within NHS or private healthcare settings
