Job summary

hVIVO is seeking a Research Nurse to support daily planning and execution in our viral challenge unit at Canary Wharf (E14). This is a 1-year fixed-term contract with mid-August start, offering AM, PM, and night shifts on a rotating roster.

The role covers nursing responsibilities from study start-up to close-out, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with ICH GCP, regulatory standards, and SOPs. Nursing qualification and NMC registration are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GCP and prior experience in clinical trials are desirable.
• Ability to record medical history, vital signs, ECG, and phlebotomy is essential.
• NMC registration is essential.
• Completed Immunisation and Vaccination (DPC Healthcare providers) is desirable.
• Certificate in basic or intermediate life support is essential.
• Good patient communication and teamwork are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and wellbeing of subjects in accordance with ICH GCP and regulatory standards.
• Assist senior team with daily workload planning and allocation.
• Plan and execute daily clinical activities in the trial environment.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to clinical staff and ensure competence.
• Supervise ancillary staff in the clinical setting as needed.
• Adhere to SOPs, protocols and Health and Safety regulations.
• Support Clinical Support Specialists with protocol-driven assessments.
• Perform nurse-specific procedures and informed consent per study protocol.
• Complete study documentation, logs, source data and CRFs.
• Input into development of SOPs and other procedural documents.
• Maintain patient safety and respond to emergencies as per SOPs and guidelines.
• Monitor deteriorating subjects and escalate appropriately.
• Check emergency equipment and maintain medicines management in the clinic.
• Oversee screening unit nursing workload as delegated by Senior Research Nurse.
• Identify areas for service improvement and promote high standards of care.
