Job summary

The Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford is seeking a Clinical Quality Improvement Fellow (25% FTE) to advance research in knee revision networks. The role involves managing academic projects, developing research databases, and coordinating activities to meet deadlines.

You will hold a Medicine degree with honours and GMC registration, and ideally an honorary contract with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Interviews are hybrid.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage own academic research and administrative activities related to the Major Revision Knee Network.

• Contribute ideas for new research projects and support preparation of publications.

Grade E63: Salary in the range of £40,190-£76,582 per annum (pro-rata), dependent on qualifications and experience, in line with current pay protection and transitional arrangements in the NHS.

This is a part time (25% FTE), fixed term position until 30/09/2028.

The Fellow will work with Mr Abtin Alvand (Consultant Knee Surgeon and Thames Valley Revision Knee Network Lead), Professor Andrew Price (Professor of Orthopaedic and Deputy Lead for Thames Valley Revision Knee Network), as well as the rest of the Major Revision Network Multi-disciplinary team members.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual for the role of Clinical Quality Improvement Fellow at the Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences. In this role you will manage your own academic research and administrative activities related to the Major Revision Knee Network. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. As well as develop new research databases and materials relevant to improving the care of patients undergoing investigation and assessment of the problematic knee replacement. You will also contribute ideas for new research projects relevant to the above themes and collaborate in the preparation of research publications.

About You

You will hold an undergraduate degree with honours in Medicine as well as a full registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC). You will also hold , or be able in a position to obtain, an honorary contract with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will hold a a Trauma and Orthopaedic National Training Number, together with relevant experience and demonstrate experience developing and delivering quality improvement projects. You will also have research experience in revision arthroplasty and knee surgery.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 28 September 2026 and will be hybrid.
