Job summary

York CAMHS is seeking a dynamic B7 Clinical Psychologist to provide assessment and treatment to young people and families, within a multidisciplinary team in York.

The post holder will deliver evidence-based interventions, supervise staff, contribute to service development, and engage in teaching and supervision within agreed timescales.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate training in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist.
• Trained in clinical supervision within agreed timescales.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary team working and service development.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based assessment and treatment to children and families within CAMHS.
• Offer supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team and ensure clinical governance.
• Contribute to service evaluation, audit and research activities.
• Undertake care co-ordination and lead practitioner responsibilities when required.

Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated B7 Clinical Psychologist to join us at York's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services also based in the city of York. The post holder will provide assessment and treatment to our young people and their families of York and work alongside an established and committed team providing a psychology lens to our teams practice and development. You will have opportunity to work alongside a wide variety of professionals including a supportive and experienced Psychology team., We welcome applications from staff who are currently coming to the end of their training in Clinical or counselling psychology that on successful completion will achieve the required qualification and registration with HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist. Trainee counselling psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their 3rd year of the doctoral training and have the following confirmed as completed by the university. This information may be requested prior to interview: a. All clinical competencies. b. 80% of the 450 supervised clinical practice hours (360 hours)

Our team includes psychologists, family therapists, nurses, psychiatrists and social workers. Therefore, the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team is a requirement. The post holder will provide evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions as part of the mental health pathways, and offer input to individuals, their families and carers in a clinic setting. The candidate will also provide supervision and support to the team in developing our practice. You will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, offer clinical supervision and consultation, contribute to service evaluation, as well as manage the demands of service development and change. Candidates should be skilled psychological professionals with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and interested in contributing to the development of an innovative service.,

• Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
• Trained in clinical supervision (within agreed timescale)
• Trained in care co-ordination (within agreed timescale)
• Evidence of continuing professional development, Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model, Working with mental health/learning disability clients (depending on designated service area)

• Undertake complex multiagency working and liaise with multiple systems
• Utilise psychometric tests competently
• Identify, provide and promote appropriate interventions / means of support for carriers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours
• Utilise appropriate clinical governance mechanisms within own work
• Use approved breakaway techniques
• Demonstrate effective keyboard skills, Experience of CBT, DBT, Psychodynamics, systematic therapy
• Skills in using multimedia materials in presentations
