Job Summary
The States of Guernsey are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Reparative Care Team within Children and Family Community Services. The Reparative Care Team provides specialist psychological and therapeutic input for children and young people who are looked after, adopted, or in residential or foster placements, alongside their carers and families.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological assessments and formulations for complex cases, using a range of methods, including psychometric testing, structured interviews and observations.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate psychological interventions for children, carers and families informed by trauma‑informed, attachment‑based and neurodevelopmental approaches.
- Offer specialist consultation and formulation support to social workers, therapeutic practitioners and carers.
- Contribute to psychologically informed care planning and multi‑agency decision making.
- Undertake and advise on risk assessment and risk management.
- Work flexibly across settings to meet the needs of children and families.
- Maintain high standards of clinical record‑keeping in accordance with HCPC standards and HSC policy.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to Assistant Psychologists, Psychological Practitioners and Therapeutic Support Workers.
- Contribute to the delivery of training for staff and carers on trauma, attachment and neurodiversity.
- Participate in regular professional supervision and annual appraisal with the Lead.
- Maintain and record continuing professional development (CPD) consistent with HCPC and service requirements.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and the development of trauma‑informed and neurodevelopmentally informed practice across Children’s Services.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit and research activities within the Reparative Care Team.
- Work within the HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and relevant BPS professional practice guidelines.
- Uphold the values of reflective practice, collaboration and compassionate care.
Qualifications
- Doctoral qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology recognised by the BPS.
- Hold and maintain HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience of delivering training to professional audiences.
- Knowledge of specialist models such as DDP, EMDR, NMT or Theraplay.
- Experience across a range of care settings.
- Management or leadership qualification.
Experience
- Experience of working with children and families in care, adoptive or fostering contexts.
- Experience of assessment and intervention for children with neurodevelopmental conditions (ASD, ADHD, FASD).
- Experience of delivering psychological interventions for trauma and attachment difficulties.
- Experience of providing supervision and consultation to multidisciplinary colleagues.
