Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in Edgware is seeking a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join an Autism and Social Communication Assessment pathway. You will assess children aged 0-6 for possible autism, interview families, liaise with schools and work within a multidisciplinary team at Edgware Hospital in Barnet.

The role includes supervising two Band 5 Assistant Psychologists, contributing to service development, audits and research, and helping triage referrals with safeguarding

Qualifications

• Experience in autism assessment and diagnosis in children 0-6.
• Qualified Clinical Psychologist with ADOS-2 training.
• Experience in multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment clinics.

Responsibilities

• Assess children aged 0-6 for possible autism using ADOS-2 and other tools.
• Interview parents/carers and liaise with schools.
• Formulate with the MDT to determine outcomes for the child and provide feedback.
• Write high‑quality clinical reports and discuss post‑diagnostic support.
• Provide supervision to Band 5 Assistant Psychologists.
• Contribute to service improvement, audit and research.
• Triaging referrals and managing safeguarding or risk cases.
