Opportunity

A well-established firm in Devon is seeking an experienced Locum Medical Negligence Solicitor to join their specialist Medical Negligence team on a temporary basis while they recruit a permanent team member. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly regarded and supportive team, handling complex and rewarding cases in a flexible working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of clinical/medical negligence matters from initial instruction to resolution
  • Handle claims involving delayed/misdiagnosis, surgical errors, prescription issues, negligent treatment or care, and other related issues
  • Prepare and progress cases including pre-action protocols, expert instructions, negotiations, and settlement
  • Participate in inquest preparation and proceedings if required
  • Advise on complaints processes against medical providers (e.g. NHS, private hospitals, GPs)
Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with significant experience in clinical/medical negligence law
  • Able to confidently manage complex files independently
  • Strong communication, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with both pre-litigation and litigated matters
  • Ability to work with a predominantly paper-based system (support provided for scanning files for remote/hybrid access)
  • Available from mid-November 2025 for an initial few months
