Job summary

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is hiring a Medical Examiner Officer to support the national rollout of the Medical Examiner system in England and Wales. You will liaise with relatives, clinicians, the coroner, and registrar services to ensure a high-quality bereavement experience.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent working knowledge in related field.
• Knowledge of the Coroner & Justice Act 2009 reference to the medical examiner system. Full understanding of the medical examiner system operational remit when incorporated within Bereavement Services or as a stand-alone office.

Responsibilities

• Act as intermediary between the bereaved and clinicians to resolve concerns relating to a patient's death.
• Work with medical examiners to oversee the death certification process for all deceased patients in the organisation.
• Establish circumstances of deaths by reviewing medical records for scrutiny by the medical examiner.
