South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic senior nurse to join our leadership team as Matron in the Emergency Department, covering JCUH andUTC sites. The post requires a track record of delivering safe, person-centred care and empowering teams across General and Emergency Medicine CSU.

Aufgaben

  • Provide strong clinical and professional leadership and a supportive approach to Team Leaders and clinicians within the MDT.
  • Be a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in the clinical areas.
  • Ensure good standards of infection control, privacy and dignity, cleanliness and health and safety.
  • Oversee and monitor the quality, timeliness and development of nursing care in accordance with professional standards.
  • Ensure environments are fit for purpose, clean, well ordered and maintained.
  • Ensure nursing practice complies with statutory and corporate policies, including those specific to service user care.
  • Be responsible for the professional management of the clinical environment, ensuring the right staff with the right skills to deliver person centred nursing care, involving service users and carers.
  • Supervise and teach registered and non-registered staff including students.
  • Identify learning development needs; plan how these will be met and evaluate the effectiveness for learners and impact on care.
  • Provide safe staffing levels, ensuring the privacy and dignity of service users.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and compassionate senior nurse to join our leadership team. The matron post will initially be in the ED at JCUH and include the UTC at JCUH, FHN and RPCH.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, safe and person-centred care, who is committed to leading and empowering teams across our General and Emergency Medicine CSU.

This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step into senior leadership or broaden their experience.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide strong clinical and professional leadership and a supportive approach to Team Leaders and clinicians within the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • To be a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in the clinical areas
  • To ensure good standards of infection control, privacy and dignity, cleanliness and health and safety
  • To oversee and monitor the quality, timeliness and development of nursing care in accordance with all relevant professional standards
  • To ensure the environments in which service care and treatment is provided are fit for purpose, clean, well ordered and maintained
  • To ensure all nursing practice is in accordance with statutory and corporate policies, including those specific to service user care
  • To be responsible for the professional management of the clinical environment, ensuring the right staff with the right skills to deliver person centered nursing care, involving service users and carers
  • To supervise and teach registered and non-registered staff including students
  • To be responsible for the identification of learning development needs; to plan how these will be met and evaluate the effectiveness for learners and impact on care

Knowledge & Skills
Essential
  • Management and clinical skills with well-developed leadership, influencing skills and the ability to engage, influence and motivate.
  • Knowledge and a proven track record of recent operational and clinical nursing/ midwifery management and the ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures and ways of working.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable capability of service improvements, strategies for infection control and transformational leadership
  • Knowledge and experience of contributing to and effectively implementing the Nursing/midwifery Strategy.
  • To have a working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant subject
  • A Masters level Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • First level registered nurse/midwife
  • Evidence of recent relevant professional development
Desirable
  • To hold or be working towards MSc or relevant post-graduation qualification
