King's has a long and illustrious history with emerging works in the area of science and nutrition. The authors of the Composition of Foods, Elsie Widdowson and Robert McCance met at Denmark Hill in the 1930's and Dr R.D. Lawrence and the author H.G. Wells founded the British Diabetes Association (now known as Diabetes UK) from this Hospital on Denmark Hill site.
The Nutrition and Dietetic Department at KCH employs over 60 staff across three main sites; Denmark Hill, Princess Royal University Hospital, and Orpington Hospital. We are leaders in several areas of clinical care including gastroenterology, paediatrics, hepatology, diabetes, renal, cystic fibrosis, complex obesity and neurosciences.
