North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South West region and one of the largest in the country. The Trust treats over 100,000 inpatients and more than 35,000 outpatients each year, manages 90,000 emergency department patients and delivers over 6,000 babies. It also offers sub‑regional, regional and supra‑regional services in neurosciences, orthopaedics, pathology, plastic surgery and burns, renal medicine and transplant, and urology, and serves as the Major Trauma Centre for the West Country.
Clinical Fellow (ST3+/SpR Level) will provide work across the department, offered for a fixed period of six months. Clinical commitments are at Southmead or the Bristol Children’s Hospital. This very busy department exposes you to trauma as well as elective plastic surgery procedures. The department handles hand and lower limb trauma, facial soft‑tissue injuries, and acts as the Paediatric Burns Centre and Regional Burns Unit for the South West. The Cleft Lip and Palate unit is located at the Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The role covers ward, out‑patients and theatre duties. There will be a rotation to the Bristol Children Hospital and cover all aspects of Paediatric Plastic Surgery except hypospadias surgery currently performed by Paediatric Urologists. You will be part of the on‑call rota for the department.
