Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Oncology Clinical Fellow for a fixed-term 6-month post in Taunton, UK. The role involves inpatient care on Beacon Ward, with potential outpatient duties and a dedicated one-day-per-week slot for project work.

You will join a dynamic Oncology team and contribute to service delivery while meeting GMC and GCP requirements. Applicants must be fully qualified with GMC registration, MBBS or equivalent, and show evidence of audit activity; strong teamwork

Job summary

We are seeking a Oncology Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic and progressive team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

The Beacon Centre is an innovative and pioneering centre delivering specialist Oncology care to its patients.

This post offers a unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in Oncology.

This is a fixed term 6 month position working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with no on-call requirement.

Target start date February 2027

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be an active member of the Oncology team and will provide care to current inpatients based on Beacon Ward.

This is a fixed term 6 month position to cover ward work with a flexible one day a week to complete project work, there is an opportunity for some outpatient's work.

Applicants must be fully qualified and meet the persons specification requirements.

You will provide cover for colleagues in their absence and to deal with emergencies as the occasion demands.

Qualifications

Essential

• Full GMC registration with current licence to practise by start date
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Meets GMC professional health requirements
• Completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit
• Previous experience working in Oncology
• Ability to work effectively within multiprofessional teams
• Evidence that career progression aligns with personal circumstances
• Peer reviewed publications (including book chapters, editorial roles, case reports)
• Presentations at regional, national, or international meetings
• Evidence of teaching activity with feedback
• Experience in clinical governance and service improvement
• Demonstrable audit cycle completion, presentation of results, and supervision of audit work
• Leadership experience with tangible outputs
