Position Overview

This post is designed to support the neurology services within the hospital and is primarily inpatient based, although there will be opportunities to join outpatient clinics. The clinical fellow will play an integral role in providing regular care to the Neurology patients on Ebony ward as well as patients located on other wards we are liaising on. The fellow will be expected to manage and maintain the inpatient list, providing continuity of care throughout the week. There will be opportunities for providing independent inpatient reviews under daily consultant supervision as well as performing procedures such as lumbar punctures and greater occipital nerve blocks. We are always involved in very complex cases and the job provides an exceptional learning environment for developing skills in general and acute neurology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Consultants and team in the Neurology Department have an excellent reputation for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A structured training programme is provided for Kent Surrey and Sussex Neurology trainees to acquire competencies and confidence in various facets of neurological and stroke medicine. We ensure they have exposure to clinical and medical oncology, palliative care and community services. Consultants act as educational and clinical supervisors for junior doctors on the firm.
