Job description

In participating in the clinical activities on the ICU, the post holder will expand on his/her experience of:

Responsibilities
  • Resuscitation of the sick patient
  • Communication with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Criteria for admission and discharge from critical care
  • An EBM approach to, and an application of care bundles, to the management of critically ill patients.
  • Recognition and management of the critically ill patient
  • Recognition and management of acute medical emergencies
  • Supporting the sick patient to prevent further deterioration and hence the need for admission to Intensive Care
  • Circulatory support, advanced respiratory support and renal replacement therapies
  • Practical procedures including arterial and venous cannulation, the use of ultrasound
  • The interpretation of complex monitoring used in intensive care
  • The management of patients following complex major surgery
  • Identification of patients who will benefit from Intensive Care
  • Management of complex ethical issues and the delivery of difficult news to relatives
Eligibility & Application

You must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom or meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. The Trust uses electronic new starter forms on Trac to collect personal details. Information collected is securely stored and used to set up the employee record on the ESR HR system.

The Trust will request a DBS (CRB) if post involves regulated activities. The Trust is compliant with the Disclosure and Barring Service Codes of practice and the Rehabilitation of offenders act.
