Job description
Clinic Fellow in Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine – John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford

Start Date: 01 December 2025

This fellowship spans clinical, research and teaching in epilepsy and sleep medicine, aiming to develop consultant‑level expertise for the successful applicant. The post will provide sub‑specialist experience in complex epileptology and sleep medicine, additional epilepsy research, and training in autoimmune aspects of epilepsy.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • See new and follow‑up patients weekly at two outpatient clinics – alternating complex epilepsy and sleep neurology clinics – and attend an autoimmune neurology clinic monthly.
  • Attend the Epilepsy Surgery MDT and present own cases for discussion.
  • Work with the Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Team (four trust‑based teams) to advise on inpatient/outpatient management.
  • Receive training in EEG and sleep recording analysis.
Teaching and Research

Actively contribute to clinical epileptology research within the Oxford neuroscience portfolio, deliver an independent research project and secure at least one first‑author publication. Encourage teaching of medical students and junior doctors, and attend relevant meetings across OUHFT and the University of Oxford.

Weekly Timetable (to be confirmed with supervising consultants)
  • 2–3 clinics per week: one complex epilepsy clinic, one sleep/epilepsy surgery clinic, and one autoimmune epilepsy clinic monthly.
  • Epilepsy MDT meetings monthly; epilepsy and neuropsychiatry meetings monthly.
  • Additional attendance at aligned neuropsychology, cognitive neurology, neuropsychiatry and paediatric epilepsy clinics.
Facilities and Additional Teaching, Audit and Research

Excellent library facilities available at The John Radcliffe Hospital and other central Oxford Libraries. The Fellow may participate in teaching, audit, and research, demonstrating professional development by attending relevant meetings and producing at least one peer‑reviewed publication during tenure.
