Job description
Overview

The Department of Cardiology is appointing a Senior & Junior Clinical Fellow to support patients at the Grange University Hospital. The successful applicant will consolidate their existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Cardiology department. Exposure to a wide range of cardiology specific conditions will place them in an excellent position when applying for further training within the specialty. The post will include on call in General Internal Medicine at IMT 3 level, on the on-call rolling rota currently 1:18 (subject to changes).

Main duties of the job
  • The main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of the Consultant Cardiology Physician
  • The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and specialty with appropriate consultant supervision
  • This will include the assessment, monitoring and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision
  • Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds, and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate
  • Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress
  • Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion
  • Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development
  • Research and service outcome evaluation will be a key part of this job and you will have one session for this as part of this clinical fellow post
