A leading healthcare institution in London seeks a CCT Glaucoma Fellow to manage complex glaucoma cases and perform advanced surgical techniques. The role includes providing comprehensive patient care, engaging in clinical audits, and participating in research activities. Applicants must have MRCOphth or an equivalent qualification, and will benefit from one-to-one consultant training. This position is suitable for experienced trainees looking to enhance their expertise in glaucoma surgery.
A CCT Glaucoma Fellow is required, based at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill site. The post would suit experienced trainees wishing to consolidate their glaucoma experience and gain further exposure in managing complex glaucoma and undertaking advanced surgical techniques, including Baerveldt and Paul aqueous shunts, glaucoma revision surgery, trabeculectomy, Preserflo Microshunt, and less invasive glaucoma surgery such as iStent implants, Omni canaloplasty/trabeculotomy, excimer laser trabeculostomy, cyclophotocoagulation, and other glaucoma laser procedures. One-to-one consultant surgical training and supervision will be provided, with two dedicated weekly glaucoma theatre sessions.
The appointee must be able to competently undertake cataract surgery independently, as they will be expected to perform cataract surgery in challenging cases and supervise junior trainees.
The tenure of the post is 1 year. Applicants must have MRCOphth or an equivalent qualification. It is expected that the appointee will undertake clinical audits and contribute to clinical research during their training. The appointee will also participate in the out-of-hours on‑call rota for the Denmark Hill site and will have a weekly session in the King's Rapid Eye Service (KRES) at Denmark Hill.
Regular clinical duties, based at King's College Hospital and/or Queen Mary’s Hospital, including the management of out‑patients and in‑patients, ward referrals. The post‑holders will be expected to contribute to and participate in the Department’s ongoing clinical audit programme and carry out all necessary administrative duties associated with patient care. They also will have a general duty of care for the health, safety and well‑being of colleagues, visitors and patients, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance responsibilities.
