A prominent healthcare trust in the UK is seeking candidates for an Emergency Medicine position. The role entails participating in a 24-hour rota, providing acute care experience, and includes opportunities for non-clinical project work. This role participates in the 24-hour rota, and is suitable for candidates either working at SHO/ST1-2 level or at ST3+ level – appropriate candidates of both grades will be considered. The post benefits from 24 hour support from senior (ST4+) 24 hour support. The post provides exposure and experience in acute presentations to the ED with rotations through all areas of the department; it is ideal for any candidate planning a career within Emergency Medicine or any acute speciality. It is also suitable for those wishing to pursue a career within General Practice.
The post includes 20% of non clinical time. You will be asked to join one of our ‘teams’ working on different projects within the department.
The Emergency Medicine part of the post is based at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This is a regional Major Trauma Centre. It is also a specialist Stroke, Vascular surgery, Urology and Transplant centre.
Full Registration with the GMC is essential. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. Candidates must have GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training, and will ideally have Royal College Emergency Medicine membership +/- fellowship.
The post is not educationally approved or recognised by the Royal College for training purposes but is educationally sound and well supported.
In addition to the above there will be a supplement for out of hours working.

If you have a strong passion about another activity/project that you would like to use your 20% time for, we are open to discussing it with you after your appointment.
For the ‘teams’ listed, if there is competition for the same roles, then allocation will be in order of ranking at interview (i.e. the ‘top’ ranked person gets first choice, and so on).
You will be asked to prepare a quarterly ‘report’ for your team, so that we can document and demonstrate the great work being accomplished in the department.
