Job Summary

The Clinical Engineering Department of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Engineering Team Lead to support services across the Trust. This permanent role offers development opportunities for leadership skills and involves leading an engineering team, prioritising workloads and providing technical support for a wide range of medical devices in a hospital environment. The post holder will initially work at North Manchester General Hospital and may rotate to other Trust and Community sites. The role focuses on quality management and covers support across multiple hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse and diagnose faults in complex patient‑critical electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Organise and deliver service schedules, leading a team on routine and reactive maintenance of medical devices.
  • Ai‑assist procurement projects for specialist medical devices.
  • Identify training needs, establish systems to ensure devices are maintained and repaired within required specifications.
  • Develop new working practices and techniques to improve team efficiency, monitored by key performance indicators.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Professional Electronic knowledge (B Eng or equivalent) with specialist knowledge to master’s level or equivalent.
  • Experience maintaining a broad range of medical equipment and evidence of competency.
  • Supervisory experience in servicing medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical device management standards and NHS structure.
  • Registered with an appropriate professional body or institution (desirable).
  • Management qualification (e.g., I.L.M. 3/5) (desirable).
  • Significant technical and people management experience in a Medical Equipment Service environment (desirable).
