Job summary

A regional NHS healthcare provider based in King's Lynn is seeking a Clinical Educator to deliver the Preceptorship Academy and support non-medical learners. This full-time role involves providing training, supervision, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have registered nurse qualifications, postgraduate education experience, and strong interpersonal skills. This position offers a salary between £38,682 to £46,580 per year and is a permanent contract.

Clinical Educator

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join the Education Faculty. The Clinical Educator will deliver the Preceptorship Academy and RNA Competency Framework.

As a Clinical Educator, you will support the quality of the clinical learning environment for non‑medical learners (nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals) by providing support, educational input and development activities for staff, supervisors, assessors and learners within pre‑registration programmes. You will encourage the development of a learning culture where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice and will positively contribute to the development of a workforce fit for purpose.

Existing Trust employees are welcome to apply as a secondment, provided they have agreement from their current line manager before they apply.

Main duties of the job

As a clinical educator you will be expected to:

  • Model high professional standards of care and promote a culture of learning, to provide professional and clinical practice training.
  • Be a visible practice presence in the clinical learning environments within the urgent care settings, providing support to learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives.
  • Provide support to those assessing and supervising staff, students and learners on a range of programmes.
  • Assist supervisors, assessors, practice educators and departmental managers to facilitate the integration of theory and practice within the clinical environment for a variety of learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of training, assessment and support provided, and provide reports as requested.
  • Assist staff with access to supervisor and educator training.
  • Deliver teaching sessions on a variety of clinical programmes.
  • Support trust‑wide clinical training needs.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications/training and professional development
  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register or clinical professional registered with the HCPC.
  • Supervisor and assessor training or equivalent.
  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Postgraduate certificate in education or equivalent.
  • To undertake MSc in Education/Research.
Experience
  • Broad range of post‑registration clinical experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Significant experience of supervising and assessing NMC/HCPC learners in practice.
  • Experience of teaching, supervising and assessing a range of learners in the practice setting.
  • Knowledge of different methods/styles for teaching and learning, including the use of simulation.
  • Current clinical credibility at senior level.
  • Effective implementation of research and audit findings.
Skills, abilities, and knowledge
  • Demonstrates NHS values and behaviours.
  • Confident and calm attitude with an ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling communication honestly, appropriately and at the right time with people at all levels.
