Job description

We are rebuilding the veterinary experience from the ground up, making access to care seamless, joyful, and genuinely personal for every pet and their owner.

With beautifully designed clinics and purpose-built technology, we are transforming how veterinary care is accessed and delivered. Our clinics combine modern design with first-class clinical care, creating spaces that vet teams, clients, and pets genuinely want to be in.

Our purpose is simple: healthier, happier pets and vets. We believe in a model that benefits everyone: our clinical teams, our members, our local communities, and our investors. That means competitive compensation, sensible caseloads, genuine career development, and a culture where people feel supported to do their best work.

We are building the vet group of the future. If you share our passion for doing things differently, we would love to hear from you.

Role Overview

As Clinical Director, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the clinic across clinical, financial, and people dimensions. You are an experienced veterinary surgeon and leader who is passionate about what Creature Comforts is building. You will have the autonomy to lead your clinic within our framework, supported by the wider Creature Comforts leadership team. You will directly manage, develop, and support the vet team, Head Nurse, and Practice Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spend approximately 80% of your time in clinical practice, leading by example

  • Enable all team members to work to the full extent of their qualifications

  • Ensure the highest standards of clinical care across all patient interactions

  • Direct education and CPD within the team, committing to an evidence-based approach

  • Organise and implement clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives

  • Identify and develop new clinical opportunities for the practice

Business Performance

  • Ensure membership is a consistent focus across the clinical team

  • Direct relevant team members to achieve membership and client acquisition objectives

  • Develop and lead the local clinic strategy, overseeing HR, health & safety, marketing, and client care

  • Oversee client complaints, both clinical and non-clinical

  • Understand and manage the practice P&L, KPIs, and budget to drive financial performance

  • Understand and contribute to the practice's speed to financial sustainability as part of your broader commercial development

  • Ensure all work is correctly charged for and that the pricing system is understood by the team

Leadership and People Management

  • Be the clinical figurehead of the clinic, leading the team by example

  • Directly manage the Veterinary Surgeons, Head Nurse, and Practice Manager through regular 1:1s and performance development reviews

  • Ensure effective cascade of information and regular, documented team meetings

  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and psychological safety, including open use of VetSafe

  • Support team wellbeing: identify issues early, utilise mental health first-aid resources, and signpost to appropriate support

  • Advocate for Creature Comforts within the veterinary industry and local community

  • Maintain compliance with RCVS standards and all relevant regulatory requirements
